Top Guy has a progressive profile, and encouragingly has shown this across two runs which came within the space of a fortnight. After an educational debut at Toomebridge, where he raced in the rear of the field before keeping on to take seventh, a change in tactics were a sign of intent, and they immediately produced the desired improvement in his performance. Forcing a strong pace in the early stages, it contributed significantly to the race clocking the quickest time on the card, some 11 seconds faster than the average, which is particularly notable given the good ground, he still found plenty for pressure to finish an encouraging second. He is certainly heading in the right direction.
