Four Springs went into many notebooks after his debut effort at Necarne where he came home 22 lengths clear of the runner up. He was ridden patiently through the first half of the four-year-old maiden, but made eye-catching headway through the third quarter and then quickened impressively from two out. The son of Berkshire appeared to appreciate the underfoot conditions, and seldom is a maiden won with such ease and authority. The third horse had shown promise in two maidens in earlier in the season, and provides a solid line as to the quality of the race.
